HyNjord - A marine pilot and technology demonstrator

HyNjord is a groundbreaking project aimed at demonstrating hydrogen and fuel cell technology. In the project we will develop a fuel cell-based power system using Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carrier (LOHC) technology. LOHC allows hydrogen to be safely and efficiently stored and transported in liquid form, enabling large-scale integration into maritime operations.

The project will showcase a 130 kW LOHC-fuel cell system on an offshore vessel operating in the North Sea, proving its reliability and performance under real-world conditions. By integrating this technology with existing port and vessel infrastructure, HyNjord bridges a critical gap in the adoption of renewable energy in maritime transport. Following this successful demonstration, the system will be scaled to megawatt levels for broader application in ocean-going vessels.
